Six different processes for producing silicone product with silica gel in a factory

August 11, 2020

There are six processes for producing silica gel in a silicone product factory. The products made by different silica gel processes are different. Similarly, different processes require different requirements and performance. Let’s take a look at these six processes

1. Compression molding: This manufacturing process is the most common. Completed by the mold, the shape of the mold determines the shape of the silicone product. Molded silicone products are usually made by high-temperature molds, after putting solid silicone raw materials added with vulcanizing agents, pressure is applied through a vulcanizing machine, and high-temperature sulfur is solidified. The hardness of molded silicone is usually 30°C-70°C. The process is relatively simple and suitable for all silicone products.

2. Injection molding: This process requires relatively high quality and is a combination of liquid silicone and plastic. Its products are characterized by good thermal stability, cold resistance, excellent electrical insulation properties, and no toxic substances are produced during combustion. Therefore, it has become an irreplaceable material in the production design of health products, automobiles, baby products, medical products, diving products, kitchen appliances, and seals.

3. Extrusion molding: Extruded silica gel products are usually formed by extruding silica gel through an extrusion machine. Generally, the shape of extruded silica gel is long, and the tubular shape can be cut at will. The product shape made by extrusion is relatively simple. Mostly strips. Silicone fittings and silicone tubes are widely used in the fields of medical and mechanical equipment. It can also be used as a buffer in packaging materials.

4. Calendering molding: Silicone rubber is kneaded and mixed with white carbon black, silicone oil, etc. to form a rubber compound and then calendered to produce a sheet. The film made by calendering has obvious differences in the physical and mechanical properties of the longitudinal and transverse directions. This phenomenon is the calendering effect. The specific performance is that the longitudinal tensile strength of the film is greater than the transverse direction, the transverse elongation of the film is greater than the longitudinal direction, and the longitudinal shrinkage rate of the film is greater than the transverse direction. The calendering effect is the result of the orientation of macromolecules, needle-like and sheet-like compounding agents in the rubber compound along the calendering direction during the calendering process. The size of the calendering effect is related to the composition, calendering temperature, speed, speed ratio and so on. Used for larger products, such as silicone sheet, silicone plate.

5. Pouring: The operation method of pouring mold or pouring mold: Pouring mold or pouring mold is used for relatively smooth or simple products. There is no mold line to save labor and time, which is to use rubber sheet for the product or model you want to copy Or surrounded by a glass plate, pour the vacuumed silica gel directly onto the product, after the silica gel is dried and formed, take out the product, and the mold is formed (Note: The infusion mold generally uses softer silica gel as the mold to release the mold. It is relatively easy and will not damage the products in the silicone mold). It is a combination of solid and liquid, such as mobile phone cases, luggage cases, etc.

6. coating: fast vulcanization, strong adhesion, good fluidity, easy to defoam. Catalyzed by platinum complex, it is non-toxic and odorless; excellent thermal stability and cold resistance (use temperature -60℃~200℃) after molding, it has good air permeability, heat resistance, and certain tensile strength; anti-slip Excellent performance; no pollution; low hardness; strong adhesion of planting glue. High tear strength; high transparency; good tensile properties. Abrasion resistance, washing resistance, high temperature resistance; high three-dimensional level, smooth, soft, flexible fabric texture, good elasticity, washing and dry cleaning resistance. When applied to cloth, it has anti-aging effect. Such as silicone gloves, rain boots, etc.
